คืนวันอาทิตย์ที่ 22 ก.พ ตามเวลาในสหรัฐฯ จะมีการประกาศผลรางวัลใหญ่ที่สุดของวงการภาพยนตร์อเมริกัน คือรางวัลออสการ์ โดยภาพยนตร์ที่ได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงมากที่สุด 9 สาขา มี 2 เรื่องคือ The Grand Budapest Hotel และ Birdman

Birdman เป็นตัวเต็งในสาขาภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยม ผู้กำกับยอดเยี่ยมจาก Alejandro Inarritu และดารานำชายยอดเยี่ยมจาก Michael Keaton และยังเข้าชิงในสาขาดาราสมทบชายและสมทบหญิงยอดเยี่ยมจาก Edward Norton และ Emma Stone

Boyhood คืออีกหนึ่งตัวเต็งในสาขาภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยมและผู้กำกับยอดเยี่ยม Richard Linklater โดยเขาใช้เวลาถ่ายทำเรื่องนี้นานถึง 12 ปี นอกจากนี้ Ethan Hawke และ Patricia Arquette ผู้รับบทพ่อ-แม่ของเด็กสองคน ยังได้รับการเสนอชื่อชิงรางวัลดาราสมทบฝ่ายชายและหญิงยอดเยี่ยมด้วย
